👉 We are now looking for a Technical Product Designer and Coordinator to oversee the coordination and technical aspects of the enhancement and updating of existing mixed-reality products.

This role balances project management with hands-on technical involvement, focusing on the smooth development of multiple projects simultaneously. You will work closely with both technical and cross-functional teams, ensuring clear communication, a linear development path and a clear project structure,  while also being able to directly contribute to industrial design tasks and other technical challenges.

What is the role and who would you be working with?

As we continue growing globally, we need a Technical Product Designer and Coordinator to coordinate and participate in the implementation of improvements and updates of our existing products. Whether by material updates, component redesigns or manufacturing changes, in this role your focus will be on improving the performance and extending the lifecycle of current products and their older versions that are already being enjoyed by thousands of players all over the world. Although primarily technical, this role will also require good people skills, you will need to coordinate with both internal and external stakeholders as well as becoming the link between the hardware and software design teams. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

Coordinate product updates: Mechanical adjustments, component redesigns, material choices, and manufacturing changes, you'll manage the process from start to finish for any developments that make our products better.

Cross-functional collaboration: Act as the main point of contact for physical product manufacturing and development. Ensure that all stakeholders in sales, marketing, and customer success are aligned, informed, and well-prepared for any product changes, maintaining smooth coordination between different teams.

Oversee design decisions: Provide technical input and participate in decisions related to industrial design, usability, and mechanical functionality and manufacturing.

Collaborate with our development team: Ensure that the software development team is consulted on the physical product development direction and that they are aligned with any changes arising from physical product updates. 

Technical participation: You’ll be involved in mechanical design development—either hands-on or by guiding external resources—ensuring solutions meet product needs.

Maintain product documentation: Ensure product changes are well-documented, well-managed, and accessible.

Component selection: Assist in sourcing components and building good supplier relations, Ensuring that updates (e.g., new cameras or computers) fit seamlessly into existing systems.

Your hands-on involvement will directly influence the development of cutting-edge products that seamlessly integrate movement and mixed-reality gaming.

Critical knowhow that you’ll need to succeed in this role:

Language & Location: Fluent in English and the ability to work on-site at our office in Helsinki (Lauttasaari).

Design Background: Experience with mechanical design principles and processes is crucial for contributing to product development.

Technical Skills: Familiarity with CAD software like SolidWorks and a general understanding of electronics and IT components is essential. A good understanding of sheet metal fabrication and development would also be very beneficial.

3D Modeling & Documentation: An ability to work with 3D models and create sketches and images for documentation, for example with SketchUp. In addition, you know how to maintain accurate documentation and develop the related processes. 

Understanding of Design for Manufacture: Familiarity with manufacturing processes and experience in moving products from development to production is a must.

Project Management: Experience in managing technical projects, preferably ones that combine a high level of OEM and bespoke parts and that require the engagement of multiple stakeholders.
