Are you a technical expert who loves understanding hardware at its core and solving the toughest system-level challenges? Maybe you’ve previously worked with computer manufacturing or understand technical hardware products! If yes, this role might be your next step.

👉 We're looking for a Senior IT Specialist with an understanding of hardware and system-level software to improve, test, and troubleshoot the hardware platforms of our mixed-reality products. This is a key role in developing and supporting our products.

👋 A quick intro from us: our team is working at the intersection of gaming and physical activity. Our products like ValoClimb, ValoArena, and ValoJump combine mixed-reality games with real-world physical challenges like climbing walls and trampolines creating engaging gaming experiences that encourage people, especially kids, to move more – while having fun!

What is the role and who would you be working with?

As a Senior IT Specialist, you get to put your skills in hardware and system-level software to the test.

Our products run on proprietary hardware platforms combining PCs with other equipment, such as routers, projectors, cameras, and speakers. Even though your workdays consist of improving and troubleshooting these platforms, it is even more about figuring out the root cause of these problems. You will ensure the problems don’t happen again so an analytical mindset and a curiosity to figure out the why behind technical issues will be your greatest assets.

Why are we hiring? We're expanding our technical team because we are growing. You will proactively apply product development-style thinking to our systems. This means identifying root causes, defining cases, and providing sustainable solutions for our hardware and system software challenges.

💡Your role involves:

  • Selecting optimal hardware with our team for our products and testing its performance.
  • Shaping product testing strategies and identifying preventive measures.
  • Understanding component-level issues and providing solutions with precision.

🛠️ Where your expertise comes into play:

  • Hardware component interoperability and performance optimization
  • Component failures and deep root-cause analysis
  • Interoperability with peripherals and hardware testing strategies
  • Driver and BIOS-level issues
  • Networking and system integration

🔑 And here’s where you stand out: You don’t just remove the problem – you understand what caused it and ensure it doesn’t happen again.

An example of how your time will be divided between different tasks:

  • 40%: Taking ownership of hardware and system software testing and root-cause analysis.
  • 20%: Selecting, testing, and preparing new hardware with structured testing methodologies.
  • 20%: Providing expertise alongside developers and product teams to solve issues that go beyond our normal technical support.
  • 20%: Documenting findings and technical solutions to support product quality.

🏢 Our office is located in Lauttasaari, Helsinki, where you'll focus on the hardware and system-level software issues and development behind our products.

👋 In this role, you’ll collaborate with Joni, our CTO, and team members from our technical support.

Critical knowhow that you’ll need to succeed in this role

Experience with hardware development, testing, or manufacturing environments: You understand the intricacies of hardware behavior, failure points, and optimization.

Technical depth: Deep expertise in computer components, peripherals, and Windows systems. You’ve likely dealt with component compatibility, hardware failures, or performance testing.

Root-cause mindset: You don’t just patch problems. You investigate deeply, document findings, and implement solutions that last.

Product mentality: You think beyond one fix – you see the bigger picture of improving the hardware-product ecosystem.

Hands-on skills: Whether it’s PC assembly, system optimization, or BIOS troubleshooting — you’re the person teams rely on to make things run smoothly.

Why join Valo Motion right now?

#1 Bridge hardware expertise with innovation: You’ll bring your hands-on hardware knowledge into a team solving unique challenges in mixed-reality gaming.

#2 Shape products at a global scale: Your solutions will ensure the quality and reliability of products used worldwide.

#3 Work for a meaningful mission: You’ll help us achieve our goal of getting 1M plays per day by 2030 with games that revolutionize physical movement.
